ANSWERS TO OFTEN ASKED QUESTIONS
We prefer to use a facility with a seating capacity of 2000 or more.
This number can be adjusted if there is no facility of this size
in your area. We can do two consecutive shows to accommodate the
size of the audience.
The size of the stage is also important, but varies depending on
the show you request: Funtastic Praise Party !, Praise Party 2!
or the Kids Crusade (stadium size). The sizes range from 18 X 24,
24 X 32, 24 X 38, 40 X 60. This will be discussed further with the
office.
The host church or organization will have to provide 18 to 25 volunteer
puppeteers. No experience is necessary, but it helps.
You can sell tickets to help cover costs, but we prefer the tickets
be a nominal charge so people understand it is to cover expenses.
Something like $3.00 per person, $10.00 per family.
This is a super fun, interactive EVANGELICAL event. Psalty will
deliver a short message at the end designed to present the gospel
in an age appropriate way so it is understandable to children and
adults.
Psalty will then have an altar call and invite children and families
who wish to accept Christ to come forward. He prays with them and
gives them some basic instruction in what to do next.
The follow up is handled by the host church or churches. When possible,
counselors can meet with those who have accepted Christ and get
their names and addresses for follow up, as well as giving them
an introductory Salvation packet. Where the facility makes this
impractical, the children are dismissed to their families. Mom or
Dad or an older brother or sister are welcome to accompany a young
child who wishes to accept Christ. It is important for parents to
know that their child has made a commitment to Christ so they can
continue to follow up at home.
If you are from a small church you can consider teaming with other
area churches to co-host the event.
When possible it is usually a good idea to have the event in a neutral
building, such as a civic auditorium or high-school. This can solve
the problem of certain people feeling uncomfortable attending a
church that is not their denomination. It can also be a non-threatening
environment for un-saved guests.
We will not present a "Praise Party" or Kids Crusades
for an all child audience. This is a program for the whole family.
We believe it is important for parents to see their children make
commitments to Christ because of the importance of proper follow
up and also, adults are needed to insure order and safety since
the shows are interactive with the audience.
Since 1992 Psalty has see over 250,000 kids and adults make commitments
to Christ at these personal appearances.
At the Praise Parties and Kids Crusades Ernie Rettino, as Psalty,
is the evangelist. He wears a blue book costume with a blue wig
and blue face makeup, just like in the videos. This gives him the
ability to be spontaneous and interact directly with the children
who come to the program. This is different than the "Psalty
and Friends" concert that is produced by Mark Bell and the
Kids Touring Company. The "Psalty and Friends" concert
is a taped character costume presentation similar to Sesame Street
(R) Live show. Ernie Rettino's voice, as Psalty, is on tape. Ernie
Rettino only appears in person as Psalty at Praise Parties and Kids
Crusades. The "Psalty and Friends" show is appropriate
for smaller venues and child only audiences. You can contact
Kids Touring Company at tel: 1-817-491-8773 or write to Mark Bell,
PO Box 1397, Roanoke, TX 76262 or e-mail: markbellpresents@aol.com.
If you do not want an altar call you should contact Kids Touring
Company for their "Psalty and Friends" show. If they do
an altar call it must be done with a live person coming out to wrap
things up at the end because the character costumes are not appropriate
to deliver a message requiring a commitment.
